goals for november 2017
November 01, 2017I forgot to make a post about my October goals – oops! – but I actually did have a few.
My main goal was to find a routine that would leave me feeling fulfilled and productive and I am happy to say that I have made a lot of progress toward that goal. I have a morning and nighttime routine that really kind of came about organically. Because I love reading about the morning and nighttime routines of others, I will be sharing them here in the next few weeks.
I've also assigned specific tasks to each day, such as one day dedicated to self-care and another dedicated to writing. That doesn't mean I do nothing else on those days; it just means I make sure to set aside a decent amount of time on those days to focus on just that.
The only thing I can't quite get a handle on is when I wake up, but I am trying a few things that I hope will help with that. If they do, I'll be sharing them here (of course).
Now let's go over my goals from September – a month later.
1. Do more art. If you count crafting, which I totally do, I aced this one. I spent a few weekends working on repurposing some old decorations we were wanting to sell, so that meant creatively coming up with ways to breathe new life into these pieces. Spoiler alert: there was a lot of paint involved. And I loved it.
2. Put myself out there. I think I aced this one, too! But in a different way than I intended. When I made this goal, I meant that I was going to submit to more literary magazines and promote my blog more. While I have done, and plan to continue doing, those things, I've also broken out of my little hermit shell. I am a bonafide introvert but I have had plans every weekend for the past couple of months, as well as some networking events of an evening here and there. So I am all kinds of putting myself out there!
3. Find another source of income. I'd give myself a C- on this one, only because I haven't officially launched what I plan to do. I have been working on it, though, and plan to launch in the next month or so.
Finally, time for my goals for November!
1. Start waking up earlier. I'm that girl who can sleep through twenty alarms – and I'm not proud of it. That is why I'm trying to DIY a wake-up light which I hope will help me. I mean, I have this awesome morning routine and I want to get it started sooner each morning.
2. Participate in NaNoWriMo. I tried NaNoWriMo once several years ago and totally failed. And, because I failed, I never took a second shot at it. But I've realized that, even if I fail, I will at least make some progress that I wouldn't have made otherwise.
3. Edit the poetry booklet I wrote ages ago. When I was in college, I wrote a short narrative poetry book that I was extremely proud of. Especially because I wrote it in two hours before my final presentation! I think it would be fantastic if I could get in published. The first step toward that is editing it with new eyes.
